Bunker Fuel desulfurization capability makes the DS2Tech process unique.

The DS2Tech process can desulfurize bunker fuel where as the hydrodesulfurization (HDS) process is incapable of doing so due to the presence of heavy multi-ring sulfur compounds. Bunker fuels for years has been a sulfur disposal path of the oil industry. But this is about to change due to impending regulations.

The DS2Tech process is ideally suited for desulfurizing bunker fuel down to the required level in emmision control areas (ECAs). This is because the process operates at mild conditions (50 - 90 °C) where bunker fuel is a free flowing liquid and selectively attacks the multi-ring sulfur compounds to convert them to sulfones that can be easily removed.
